Earthwatch - Arizona 2009

Hello World!

Today is my first BLOG post! I leave for Arizona in 101 days.

To bring you up-to-date, I was awarded an Earthwatch Educator Fellowship. This adventure is made possible through a generous grant given by the Tampa Bay Rays Education Awards 09. They will reimburse my transportation costs to Arizona. Upon arrival, all expenses are covered within the expedition.

My Expedition Briefing is being prepared and should arrive shortly. I have been provided a sample briefing from last year. I know that I am part of Team 4 of Climate Change and Caterpillars from 8/05/09 to 8/15/09. When I learn of my specific agenda, I will post it here.

This is an exciting adventure and I believe it will open up many new opportunities in my life. I have no plans for leaving the field of education at this time. Being an educator makes all other professions possible. This expedition will allow me to share my "hands-on" experiences of working with world class scientists with my students. I hope to inspire my Westgate Wildcats so they will consider a career in science.

Stay tuned.......this is the first of hundreds of posts.

Remember, EARTH DAY is every day!
